Rafting the Arkansas

We rafted the Arkansas while in Colorado. Unfortunately, the Royal Gorge was closed due to heavy run-off of water from the hefty snowfall this past winter, so we had to settle for a class 3 rapid. Kinda lame, but still fun.

Wetsuits are hot.

We had to pull our boat over because we passed some carnage from a boat in front of us that tipped over. Our guide ran down the bank and helped some people out of the river. We hung out and got rained on, awesome.

Storm rolling in.

Bleak waters.

Our group rafted the Bighorn Canyon this year as well instead of rafting the Royal Gorge due to high waters but the company we rafted with ran an extended trip for us on the upper section which included some very large rapids so we were satisfied as well.

We returned just last week and were able to run the Gorge as well now that the water levels have come down from the high water flows.

The company we rafted with was Royal Gorge Rafting or www.royalgorgerafting.net they are at 719 275 7238 and they had a really amazing bar & grill where we were able to eat and get a few drinks afterwards. Really nice!

Better luck for your group next time!
